Ireland, September, 1995
9/23/95 - We fly from Cleveland to Detroit to London to Dublin (whew!), take a 2 hour nap then off to downtown Dublin then fabulous play at Abbey Theatre (Breon Friel's "Philadelphia, here I come); Sunday, 9/24/95 - Tour Dublin, high church service at St. Patrick's Cathedral (Episcopal); Here St. Pat baptized the masses.
Then up the street to Christchurch Cathedral, great choir, also Anglican; The animals took to Jack! Also see the Dubliner Abbey and history of the city.

We also see Book of Kells here; Looking out gates of Trinity College.
More Dublin shots, along the river, then another Indian restaurant to stock up on lentils; 9/25/95 - We are awakened by call from home, Bee is hunting deer at the cabin with 2 friends, scares Zita. About noon we leave Dublin and head South. First stop, Powerscourt with lovely gardens (& weather!)

Glendalough Falls and lake with St. Kevin's Ruinas monastery; Spend night at Derryhawn, lovely B&B, great dinner at Mitchell's roadside cafe; Van Dams are hosts, Rob Hunter their daughter's surgeon; a fine dog.
Tuesday, 9/26/95 - We head South to Wexford and Waterford; first stop a wildlife shelter; Then on to the abbey named after the famous Tintern of Wales.
Bridge and view of abbey from it; the on to Dunbrody Abbey.
Waterford in the drizzle, then through the rain to spend night; Wednesday 9/27/95 - Coastal drive South.
Cobh, where the Bowe family sailed from; then on to Blarney castle where jack kisses the Stone and we spend night.
Thursday, 9/28/95 - Tour Cork city
Mills along river; Cork Cathedral.
We then drive along river to Macroom, a market town with castle, father of William Penn.
We continue to drive to Mizzen Head, hike Fastnet area & spend night; 9/29/95 - Leave our farm B&B, drive to Ballymore to do laundry and tour Earl's home and gardens; The drive Ring of Beara in rain and get to Kenmare (dinner w Tore and Ed Ressauvage)
Saturday, 9/30/95 - Drive Ring of Beara to the point where we can no longer see; 1st stop, ancient fort.
Home of liberator Daniel O'Connell on Ring of Kerry; Traffic impasse! Forsythia by stream.
Sunday, October 1 - (Kristen's Birthday) we join Kenmare Walking Club and hike from Killarney to Kenmare; 9AM gather at Main Square to take bus to Killarney; Julia, B&B, great lady; Brendan, B&B host who invited us; Take boats and cross lake.
Jack gains 2 year old rider; Mid point break.
Monday, October 2, 1995 - We leave Kenmare and tour the glorious Dingle Peninsula.
Ancient Celtic stone forts; Modern inhabitants.
We spend night in Dingle, have dinner with Tore and Eddie then hear traditional music in a pub.
Tuesday, 10/3/95 - Drive O'Connor Pass to leave Dingle.
Ardmore; then along the River Shannon.
Wednesday, 10/4/95 - Leave B&B , the tour, on way to airport.
Abbey at Stud Farm; Then fly to London and drive to Brighton for night.
