Book 32: 2011
Feb. 4, 2011 - JGH is 69 and we celebrate at Edgcumbe with the O'Briens. Two days later we enjoy a fabulous Chinese New Year at Dr Xiao's home in North Oaks.

We enjoy the Naples apartment of Jake and Janet Hoeschler for the month of March. The grandsons play violin in the flat, do the Wii contests on the TV, and enjoy the beach.
March 24: Jack OBrien is 6! Jake Hoeschelr enjoys "32 Childhood Stories" that Jack and I wrote for our boys. Barbara Winthrop treats us on her beach in Pelican Bay.
We spend a fine afternoon at Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center with our two best boys.
A pleasant time in downtown Naples and the boys enjoy the Gulf.

On April 3 the Minnesota Commissioning Club meets with composer Jim Stephenson at Fred and Gloria Sewell's Minneapolis home. The 2 Jacks at SMM benefit, then Jack O'B plays at his recital. Lower photos: April 5 dinner before Uncle Bob Hoeschler's funeral in San Francisco.

April 8: Board members of the Delegation for Friendship Among Women fly to DC to meet with the Syrian Ambassador regarding our upcoming trip. We are assured that the uprisings will be over by the end of the month. As we leave, Sylvia Sabo comments: "This may be our trip to Syria." She was correct. At the Newseum with an author.
April 14 we celebrate Meagan Hoeschler's 28th birthday at Edgcumbe. April 17: Jack's group recital. Fritz in Turkey, where he and Juli live.
April 21: William O'Brien's 1st haircut. April 24 we celebrate Easter with church at St. Olaf and brunch at the Minneapolis Club.
Jay and Judy Hoeschler and daughter Abby join us at the Club. We return to Edgcumbe for our traditional egg hunt. We travel via train with the O'Brien boys to Glacier Park, May 17-23.
Kristen and Terry join us in Glacier. LLH is there for a Northwest Area Foundation Board meeting.
Lovely, wonderful National Park.
We train it home...where a redstart greets us.
May 30: Memorial Day at our Gem Lake cabin.
Gem Lake party for darling William at 3 years old! Off to NYC for LLH's 45th and KBH's 25th Barnard College Reunion.
During the Barnard reunion we stay at Aaron Kernis' flat. We visit the Met's Cloisters. June 11: Lizzie Hoeschler weds Gregory Horvitz at Norskedalen in La Crosse.

Aug 27: Ranheims treat us to dinner to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary and David's birthday. Commissioning Club meets at the Huegs'. Sep 29: Anker Johnson visits from Norway and we host dinner for his cousin, Thelma Hunter, Ranheims and Hvidstens.
Gorgeous surprise October visitors: bluebirds eating, drinking, and bathing before they head south.
Oct 29: Halloween party at the Minneapolis Club: we all go as Alice in Wonderland characters. Jake and Maureen Hoeschler join us.
Oct. 31: Papa, the Mad Hatter, goes Trick/Treating with William the Bat and Jack the Headless Horseman. Machiai spook at Edgcumbe.
Gloria Voumadi is 4 and we all celebrate at our home.

Dec 28: Doyles fly in from Raleigh, NC and we dine at Edgcumbe. The next day we honor John's mother, Mary Doyle, at her funeral.
Fr. Kevin McDonough buries Mary next to her beloved Vince. We return to Edgcumbe for a hearty meal.
