A visit to England to see Juli and Fritz. Jan 5, 2008: We arrive and enjoy a delightful dinner at Tuddenham Mills. Jan 6: Lovely afternoon in Ely and one of our favorite cathedrals. Ely Cloister. Ely Museum where Fritz teaches in mufti.
Fritz & Juli lead way to Oliver Cromwell House tour. PM, Wonderful Epiphany procession at Ely Cathedral. 1/7, Monday, Bury St. Edmunds.
Gate to Bury St. Edmunds Gardens. Lavenham, a charming Suffolk town where we stayed with Fritz, Kristen and Manny in 1983. Guild Hall, famous on Mill route. 1/8/08, Tuesday, King's & Cambridge tour. Great lunch with Tim Brown, music director of Clare College and friend of Philip Blackburn. War Chapel at King's.
Wednesday, Jan 9: Burnham Market to see poet and writer Kevin Crossley-Holland. Burnham Thorpe Church where Horatio Nelson was born in the rectory. Great knight brass at church, B.M.
Thursday, Jan 10: Wisbech & Fens. Isleham, St. Andrews Church. Old knight's tomb. Friday, 1/11: Cambridge & museums: Polar Institute. 1/18, London, Lunch with Anders Beer, son of Barbro Larsson who housed Fritz in 2005 in Kung Älv at time of our accident.

Mother's Day afternoon: prepare and plant the vegetable garden at Gem Lake. After JGH and LLH go to Scotland, we return home on June 2. At 4:34AM, June 3, 10 hours after we return from Scotland, William Egan O'Brien is born at St Joe's Hospital in St Paul!
June 5, William comes home to 1672 Pinehurst.
June 16 with Will-O'B. The two Jacks play frisbee in the Japanese grass lake. Alan and Cecily Morse visit. June 22nd cruise on the St. Croix. Monday, June 24th, down the Mississippi; we visit the Eagle Center in Wabasha.
June 24: Jack writes a thank-you to William. Kristen, Meredith Wilson and Nonna embrace our new babe. June 29th at the cabin--William rests, eats and grows.
July 2nd, Meagan Hoeschler plays with Jack; William eyes Jack. Dinner with Sr. Anne Clare Keeler. July 4th at the cabin: Dr. Xiao, Wei Lu & Abraham.
July 6th: Hella Hueg and Jack relax in the yurt erected in our cabin field by Mongolian gymnasts who teach at Circus Juventis. July 14th, Dock Cafe with Judy Ranheim and the family. The O'Brien guys at Pinehurst.
July 10: Jack O'B oversees the construction of our library and garage addition. July 19 dinner at the Dock Cafe: LLH is 64 years old! July 20th: Gloria Voumadi's baptism at St Peter Claver church with celebratory party at the cabin.
Gloria's baptismal party includes Karen, Meagan & Kristen. July 26: LLH and JGH take Jack'OB on the train to Glacier National Park. July 27: McDonald Lodge.

Monday, July 28: Rafting on the Flathead River. Road to the Sun, hike an avalanche.
Jacks in a tree. Afternoon cruise on Lake McDonald. Tuesday, July 29th, Whitefish Mountain, Center & hike. Jack gets a National Parks Junior Ranger vest and begins a career of getting various park badges.
Riding gondola down (& chairlift up). Afternoon market in Whitefish. July 30, Boarding the train home. July 31, Back in St. Paul.
August at the cabin, Jack's new swingset. Papa and William nap and cuddle. Late-hatching birds.
Monday, Aug. 18, SJU Board "Picnic". Appetizers, dinner and dancing on a beautiful evening (Brother Dietrich's last official appearance--so sweet and thoughtful.)

Aug. 15: Little House on the Prairie opening at the Guthrie. Aug. 9, Jay and Judy Hoeschler's Barry White Party in La Crosse. Aug. 24: With cousin Jamie Long tracing Geneseo roots. Roy & Ruby Johnson, daughter Sharon. Aug 30: JGH and LLH host a family & friends boat cruise on the St. Croix.
