June '66 La Crosse engagement festivities: Shower at Gundersens; Hoeschler party in the Coulee; Motschmans host handyman's shower for Jack at their ski-hill; Bridesmaid Anne Keeler hosts shower in her Irvington home for grade-school girlfriends.
Peter and Rosemary Prevelige, Linda's cousins, give a lovely dinner party on August 23, 1966 in Fairfield, CT, inaugurating our wedding week!
Wedding week: Czermak party on August 24; Margie Czermak and Frank Mace (Linda's piano teacher) played up-tempo music, so of course we danced! So happy...
Margie and Charlie Czermak, who lived across the street from Lovases, were great hosts and a second set of parents to Linda.
August 25: Lovely rehearsal dinner at Tappan Hill hosted by Jake and Janet Hoeschler
8/27: The Big Day! One of the limousines broke down, so the bride and her father had to travel at the church in a red cab...the bridesmaids got the limo.

Seated in our first home, an apartment on Washington Square in NY; December '66 party in LaX at the Holiday Inn; Steve Lovas' graduation from Brown U in June 1967; Jack studies for bar exam in Milwaukee where we spend the summer.
Hildur and son Stephen Lovas visit us in Milwaukee, so we go to its fabulous zoo
We travel to Randolph, Iowa to visit Wederquist farm and cousins, then up to La Crosse to see the Hoeschlers. Jay and Janice.
We travel from the Hoeschler cottage in Dresbach, MN to Wisconsin Dells for a day. A weekend sailing regatta on Lake Onalaska in La Crosse.

Linda and Jack are Vista Volunteers in Chicago from Sep 67 to Nov 68 (LLH retires in April, due to pregnancy). Jack spent the summer there, but got a beating helping a friend. Linda lived with her parents in Ttown, while finishing up coursework for her MA at the New School.

In November 1968 Jack starts job at Doherty, Rumble and Butler in St Paul, while LLH stays in La Crosse with Baby Kristen at the Hoeschlers'
Maebelle Hoeschler, Jack's grandmother, comes visit us from LaX--what a wonderful person!
Dec '68: We move to 1793 Yorkshire Avenue in St Paul and gradually settle into our first home. All focus is on Kristen!
Hildur Lovas comes to St Paul to see her first grandchild; she and Kristen maintained a close relationship until Hildur died in 2007.
3/15/69: Grandma Bowe (Janet Hoeschler's mother) visits from Beaver Dam, WI. Despite the snow on the ground, she insists she's in Arizona!
We drive to Tarrytown for Christmas. Back in St Paul, Kristen shows off her new chair and dress.
I'm all dolled up in St. Paul's fanciest "Easter bonnet with all the frills upon it"! But I warn you that I'll eat my hat if you don't think I'm "The grandest lady in the Easter parade!" Happy Easter! Love, Kristen, 1969. (Linda made many such cards for close friends and family)
